Spring Equinox Represents New Beginnings

astrology self care Feb 20, 2023

The days have grown longer, and the Spring Equinox marks the perfect balance of day and night, ushering in a season of renewal and growth.

In this blog post, we'll explore the significance of the Spring Equinox, its astrological implications, and how we can make the most of this transformative period.

Understanding the Spring Equinox

The Spring Equinox occurs when the tilt of the Earth's axis is neither inclined away from nor towards the Sun, resulting in nearly equal amounts of daylight and darkness across the globe. This astronomical event typically falls around March 20th or 21st in the Northern Hemisphere and September 22nd or 23rd in the Southern Hemisphere.

Astrological Significance

Tropical Astrology: Aries Season Begins
In Tropical astrology, the Spring Equinox marks the beginning of Aries season, the first sign of the zodiac. Aries, represented by the ram, is associated with enthusiasm, initiative, and new beginnings. It encourages us to embrace our passions, take bold actions, and pursue our goals with vigor.

Since tropical astrology is based on seasonality, this is due to the fact that we begin to get more sunshine and may even experience a boost in mood because of it!

Vedic Astrology: Pisces Season Continues
Contrary to tropical astrology, Vedic astrology considers the spring equinox to occur during the pisces season. Pisces, symbolized by the fish, is linked to creativity, intuition, and spiritual growth. It invites us to delve into our emotions, connect with our inner selves, and seek deeper meaning in life.

Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac calendar, represents transcendence and the veil between LIFE and DEATH. Pisces is the last moment before re-birth. 🐣

While the Spring Equinox is inspiring and active, it can be thought of as the moment of conception with the "baby" to be born officially in April when the Aries season comes around in our Vedic sky.

Making the Most of the Spring Season

  1. Set Intentions: Take time to reflect on your goals and aspirations. Create a vision board, journal your thoughts, or engage in meditation to clarify your intentions for the season ahead.
  2. Embrace Change: Spring is a time of transition. Be open to change, embrace new opportunities, and release anything that no longer serves your highest good.
  3. Connect with Nature: Spend time outdoors, soak up the sunshine, and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. Engaging in activities like gardening, hiking, or picnics can uplift your spirits and enhance your well-being. It's also a good idea to spend time in water, by visiting a local body of water, or just taking a relaxing bath.
  4. Nurture Your Spirit: Practice self-care routines, indulge in creative pursuits, and prioritize activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices are highly encouraged as you will likely feel more inspired to make spiritual practices a part of your routine.

Perfect Time to Start a Yoga and Meditation Practice

  1. Renewal and Rejuvenation:
Spring is a season of renewal and rejuvenation in nature, making it ideal for starting new habits such as yoga and meditation. These practices can help release stagnant energy accumulated during winter, promote flexibility, and restore balance.
  2. Increased Energy and Vitality:
With longer daylight hours and a surge of natural energy in the air, spring provides us with the perfect environment to boost our own energy and vitality. Engaging in yoga sequences that focus on energizing poses, such as sun salutations, can invigorate the body and awaken a sense of aliveness. Similarly, meditation practices can help clear mental fog, improve focus, and enhance overall well-being, allowing us to make the most of this period.
  3. Alignment with Nature's Rhythms:
Spring symbolizes a time of growth, expansion, and new beginnings in sync with the Earth's natural rhythms. By starting a yoga and meditation practice during this season, we align ourselves with the cyclical patterns of nature, fostering a deeper connection and harmony. Tuning into the seasonal changes can inspire us to embrace transformation, set intentions for personal growth, and cultivate mindfulness, all of which are foundational aspects of yoga and meditation.
