New Moon in Pisces: What to Expect
Feb 18, 2023The sign of Pisces is usually all about going with the flow. However, with the upcoming New Moon in Pisces, intentionally swimming with the current is likely to help you more than passively floating.
The New Moon in Pisces will be exact at 2:06 am EST on February 20, 2023. Like any New Moon, this is an ideal moment to set an intention for a goal you want to manifest. This time around, though, Saturn is in the mix, so you might be held more accountable than usual for any commitments you make.
On March 7, 2023, Saturn, the planet of discipline and structure, will move into the sign of Pisces. By the end of March 2023, it will have passed over the degree of this New Moon, cementing whatever began at the New Moon.
While Saturn has a reputation for causing trouble, its goal isn't to create chaos for no reason — it's just trying to align you with reality's limits. Having too much chaos in your life is likely to make a Saturn experience worse than it needs to be. If you proactively embrace Saturn's call to order, Saturn can give you extra support to make your changes stick.
A key point to keep in mind this New Moon is that the universe helps those who help themselves. Even if you don't get all the rewards that you want right away, putting in the regular, focused effort will add up over time.
This practical attitude is an odd match for the slippery sign of Pisces, which is associated with spirituality. Even spiritual growth has its practical side, though.
Sometimes there's value in keeping your approach open to however the universe might choose to communicate with you. An overly rigid mindset about what your spiritual life is supposed to look like can block you from seeing amazing opportunities that are right in front of your nose.
However, on the other fish — the symbol for Pisces is actually two fish — too little structure can also become a problem for your spiritual life.
Although planning may seem to spoil the pleasure of spontaneous synchronicities, it's easy to get distracted with social media scrolling and mindless TV while you passively wait for something wonderful to happen to you.
This New Moon is a great time to commit to structure in your spiritual practice. Joining a yoga class or a study group for the sacred text of your choice can help you stay on track. Even so, you may get more out of the class if you do the equivalent of homework on your own time, so schedule it in!
Making a commitment of this sort can also be a good way to find out what's not for you. If you've long been fascinated with the idea of a particular spiritual practice and then discover after you focus on it more deeply that it doesn't resonate with you, don't force yourself to stick to it out of sheer stubbornness. Saturn is about honoring the reality of what does and doesn't work, so acknowledge what you learned from the experience, and move on.
Pisces and Neptune, one of its ruling planets, are also associated with sleep. If your life feels chaotic, regulating your sleep schedule may be an easily overlooked place to start. You might think you're too old to have a bedtime, but sometimes it really is that simple! Yoga and meditation can help you relax if you have trouble winding down at night.
