Chakra Healing
Mar 23, 2023The art of chakra healing has been used for centuries to balance important energy centers in our body called chakras. We can use a number of different tools such as stones or meditation during chakra balancing. The end result will be a physically healthier body and a happier, more peaceful you.
According to practitioners of chakra healing, we all have seven primary chakras that correspond with vital areas of our bodies and emotional and spiritual aspects of our lives. The seven chakras form a line from the base of your spine to the top of your head. Chakras have their own color, vibrational frequency, and symbol.
For example, the first chakra is found at the base of the spine and is known as the root chakra. This chakra governs the spinal column, kidneys, legs, feet, rectum, and immune system. So, when this chakra is out of balance, it may lead to lower back pain, varicose veins, leg cramps, rectal conditions, depression, as well as immune related disorders. A lack of balance in the root chakra may be caused by feelings of low self esteem, insecurity, or family concerns.
Other chakras include the sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras. Each energy center must be vibrating at the proper frequency independent of one another in order for the entire body to vibrate in harmony. Therefore, each chakra is equally important to optimal functioning of the body according to the chakra healing tradition.
Healing Techniques
Many powerful tools can affect the vibration of the chakra, and bring the frequency of the chakras back into proper vibrational alignment.
- Gemstones
- Intention
- Chants & Mantras
- Meditation
- Reiki
Gemstones
Gemstones have unique vibrations that can balance the energy in the chakras. Each gemstone has a specific color and energy frequency that matches a particular chakra. By wearing or placing gemstones on specific chakras, you can harness their energy to activate and balance those chakras.
When choosing gemstones for chakra healing, it's essential to select ones that align with your specific needs. You can choose gemstones based on their color, energy vibration, or your intention for each chakra. Here are some examples of gemstones for each chakra:
- Root chakra: Hematite, Red Jasper, Black Tourmaline, Smoky Quartz
- Sacral chakra: Carnelian, Orange Calcite, Sunstone, Citrine
- Solar Plexus chakra: Tiger's Eye, Amber, Citrine, Yellow Jasper
- Heart chakra: Rose Quartz, Green Aventurine, Rhodonite, Malachite
- Throat chakra: Aquamarine, Lapis Lazuli, Blue Lace Agate, Angelite
- Third eye chakra: Amethyst, Fluorite, Sodalite, Labradorite
- Crown chakra: Clear Quartz, Amethyst, Selenite, Diamond
Intention
Intention plays a crucial role in balancing the chakras. Our intentions are the energy behind our thoughts and behaviors, directing our energy towards our goals and desires.
Intention can help to amplify the effects of gemstones on the chakras. When you set your intention to balance a particular chakra, you focus your attention and energy on that area. This energy can help to amplify the energy of the gemstone and support its healing properties.
It's important to set clear and positive intentions to ensure maximum effectiveness. It's also helpful to repeat affirmations or mantras while meditating with the gemstone to further solidify your intention and promote healing.
Chanting & Mantra
Chanting and mantra recitation have been practiced for centuries in many spiritual traditions as a way to focus and calm the mind, and to resonate with the vibrational energy of the universe. In addition to its meditative and spiritual benefits, chanting can also be used as a tool to open and balance the seven chakras.
Chanting and mantra recitation can be a powerful tool to balance the seven chakras and promote overall well-being. It’s a simple and effective practice that can be incorporated into your daily routine.
It’s important to note that chanting should be done with intention and focus, rather than as a mindless repetition of sounds.
Here are some mantras and sounds you can use to balance each of the seven chakras:
- Root chakra: Chant “Lam” which vibrates at the frequency of 396 Hz.
- Sacral chakra: Chant “Vam” which vibrates at the frequency of 417 Hz.
- Solar plexus chakra: Chant “Ram” which vibrates at the frequency of 528 Hz.
- Heart chakra: Chant “Yam” which vibrates at the frequency of 639 Hz.
- Throat chakra: Chant “Ham” which vibrates at the frequency of 741 Hz.
- Third eye chakra: Chant “Om” which vibrates at the frequency of 852 Hz.
- Crown chakra: Chant “Silence” which is beyond the vibrational frequency.
Meditation
Chakra meditation may also be used to open up your chakra centers and improve the flow of positive psychic energy in your body. During meditation you simply concentrate on each of the chakras starting with the first one and working your way up to your crown chakra.
Take deep breaths through your nose and letting go through our mouth slowly while only focusing on the light and the chakras. By imagining the flow of energy from chakra to chakra, you are helping to remove blockages in each energy center that might be causing pain and disease.
Any blockage can be worked out and healed.
Sit with your feet on the ground and the palms of your hands facing up. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths before you start so you can relax. Then visualize a bright light and begin your chakra meditation.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that utilizes the universal life force energy to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. A trained Reiki practitioner channels this energy through their hands and directs it towards the recipient, helping to clear blockages and balance the chakras.
Incorporating Reiki into your holistic wellness routine can be a powerful way to heal and balance your chakras. If you don't have access to a trained Reiki practitioner, you can manipulate this life force energy with your breath (Prana).
Pranayama
In yoga philosophy, Prana (or breath) is considered the life force energy that flows through the body. Yogis believe that by controlling and harnessing Prana through breath control (Pranayama), one can achieve physical and spiritual well-being. This concept of Prana aligns with the universal life force energy utilized in Reiki.
Both Reiki and Prana involve the conscious manipulation of life force energy for healing and balance. While Reiki practitioners channel this energy externally, yogis focus on cultivating and directing it internally through their breath. The common thread is the recognition of a vital life force that connects us to the universe and plays a crucial role in our overall health.
