Best Yoga Poses To Open Hips

If you're like most people, you spend a lot of your time sitting throughout the day.
According to a 2019 article from the Washington Post, the average adult sits more than 6.5 hours or more per day. WOW!
When we spend most of our time sitting, our hip flexors tighten and shorten, which causes lower back pain, knee joint discomfort, posture problems, and even a difference in leg length.
Luckily, you can avoid or reverse these issues with a bit of consistent stretching. Below, I've listed my three favorite hip opening poses for beginners.
1. Fire Log / Double Pigeon
- Bend your leg at your knee to make a 90-degree angle
- Stack your left leg on top of your right
- Flex both feet
- Place a block in front of your legs for support if needed
- Lean forward
- Switch legs
2. Figure 4 / Modified Pigeon
- Lay on your back
- Bend both knees at 90-degree angles
- Place right angle on top of your left knee
- Reach your right hand between the hole you created
- Pull your left leg into your chest
- Switch sides
3. Low Lunge
- Step your right leg between your hands
- Drop your left knee on your mat
- Stack right knee over right ankle
- Set eyes at one single point ahead of you
- Roll shoulders back
- Lead forward gently
- Switch sides
