Start Your Own New Moon Ritual

Jun 14, 2022

New moons represent new beginnings and incorporating New Moon rituals is a great way to re-align yourself with the natural environment.

About once a month, the Moon goes into its “New” phase, where it is entirely nestled behind the sun and is totally invisible in the sky from our view down here on earth. The New moon also marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle, which is why it’s known for providing a clean slate or fresh start.

This makes the new Moon a great time for planning new projects, revising goals and setting intentions. Check out these ways you can make your own New Moon Ritual at home.

1- Set Intentions / Visualization

Now’s the time to set intentions and focus on the things you want to bring about in your life. The new Moon gives you a cosmic fresh start, so it is a great time to reflect on your goals and review what’s working and what’s not working so you can revise them and focus your energy on them.

2- Clean & Smudge Your Space

Organize and sanitize your physical environment. No matter if that’s your room, office, or home. The cleaning of space helps you organize thoughts, gain clarity around situations and inspire new ideas. It’s a good idea after cleaning up to burn Sage or Plato Santo sticks to clean the energy in your space as well. We often forget how much our physical environment affects how we feel and how we move in the world.

3- Slow Down

A great way to slow down is to practice a meditation or breathing exercise during the new Moon. Both practices require that you sit in stillness and practice being mindful, patient, and intuitive. At first, it can feel challenging to be still, but it becomes easier with time and practice. If you’re new to meditation, you can get some great tips on how to start your meditation practice here. Slowing down and listening to your body is an elevated level of self-care.

4- Acknowledge The Sign Of The Moon

The Moon changes zodiac signs every 2.5 days and figuring out what sign the new Moon has settled in can help give you a focus around your new moon ritual. For example, a New Moon in Pisces may have us focus our new intentions around developing our spiritual connection, connecting to our intuition and becoming aware of our good and bad habits. A quick google search can tell you what sign the Moon is in, or you can join our free group where we post that information for you.

No matter how you decide to celebrate the New Moon, the important thing is to make your ritual special to you. If you’re interested in getting staying updated on the New and Full Moon as well as other Astro updates, join our free group
